Archaeological collections can have diverse and unusual needs for their care and management. In this webinar, presenters will share their experience and expertise in managing a range of these types of collections. They will cover everything from challenges and opportunities in curation, to data considerations, to practical solutions and ideas for storage, care, and use. Intended mainly for staff from small to mid-sized museums whose primary focus is not archaeology.
Jess Robinson is Vermont State Archaeologist. He directs a Statewide program of archaeological preservation including planning, policy development, program development and implementation, Federal and State regulatory oversight, education, budget preparation and monitoring, and public relations. He also directs and manages the Vermont Archaeology Heritage Center, which is the State’s collections management facility and center for Vermont archaeology education and outreach.
Angie Grove is Executive Director at the Ethan Allen Homestead Museum in Burlington, VT. As a public historian, she works to advance the role that historical knowledge plays in forming community and individual identities, and to improve opportunities for people to interact with historical research and hands-on experiences, in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Patricia Reid is the Director of Collections at Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in Vergennes, VT. She has spent the past decade managing museum collections at museums and libraries around the country, with the bulk of that experience with the archaeological collections on repository at LCMM. Patricia holds a BA in Archaeology, History, and French from Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA.
