Presented by

Robert Hannum (Bob), Vermont State Art Conservator

Bob will provide an overview of the exciting restoration of Vermont's newly declared national treasure. It's a collection of 16 monumental sculptures created 50 years ago by artists from all over the world and placed in rest areas along I-89 and 91. His team began conservation work in May of 2024 in consultation with the Getty Conservation Institute and with generous grant funding by the 'Save America's Treasures' program. Learn about this fascinating project and help solve some lingering mysteries!

For over 45 years Bob has served museums, artists, corporations, and private collectors. His art conservation experience includes many aspects of contemporary sculpture and hanging art installation, restoration, and maintenance including graffiti removal, water and smoke disaster restoration, gilded and plaster frame repair, cleaning grave markers, and ceramic restoration. He has restored works by some of the most important contemporary artists including Maya Lin, Roy Lichtenstein, Vicente Manansala, Frank Stella, and Christo. His clients include the Guggenheim and Hirshhorn museums, the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the US Dept of State, and numerous art foundations and private collectors.
